But, I am a strong believer in that old adage-if at first you don't succeed try, try again....

Anyhow, as for the name. You sound like you are already on the right path. There must be a name which connotes the specific market advantage that your new business concept posesses; while also appealing to a wide cross section of local languages. Maybe you can use the lingua franca(ooops that wasn't spelled correctly), a word from the business-language that is used in and around your particular locality.

By the way, I wish you a most Happy New Year, a most prosperous New Year, and of course a most enterprising New Year for you-the Africa Entrepreneur!

beninmwangi says:

Thanks for your comments, there is reason for optimism when it comes to doing business in Africa. But, as you have mentioned it is not always easy. I have tried at least 4 or 5 ventures in Africa-both while there and while abroad, one of them( a software development company) got pretty far off the ground. However, since I did not really appoint someone as a responsible party for the business after I left-it faded away.

What's In A Name? (Africa Entrepreneur)

Thanks for the kind words. As always your words of encouragement are welcome. An equally prosperous and happy New Year to you.

I understand what you are saying about how difficult it is to ensure business continuity in Africa. In many cases there is very little bench strength(middle management) that can take over in a founders absence.

Narrowing down on a few names. There are a lot of powerful African names out there. Thanks for the naming pointers.

(unknown) says:

Thanks for the kind words. As always your words of encouragement are welcome. An equally prosperous and happy New Year to you.

I understand what you are saying about how difficult it is to ensure business continuity in Africa. In many cases there is very little bench strength(middle management) that can take over in a founders absence.

Narrowing down on a few names. There are a lot of powerful African names out there. Thanks for the naming pointers.

Is Uganda an emerging economy? (Paul Busharizi)

Forbidden fruit is sweet… <a href="http://www.mdafederal.com/Members/johngray/john.html">Amie</a>

(unknown) says:

Forbidden fruit is sweet… <a href="http://www.mdafederal.com/Members/johngray/john.html">Amie</a>

Is Uganda an emerging economy? (Paul Busharizi)

My browser was not able to access your "read more" section for this post. However, the title of your blog caught my eye. It just so happens that I recently added a post to my blog about this topic.

When you compare the economy of Uganda to many of its counterparts in Africa, Uganda ($48b) comes in at number 11 out of Africa's 53 (other countries in total GDP and number 75 out of 242 other countries in the world. In GDP per capita Uganda ($1817) ranks 26th in Africa. As far as GDP growth rates, Uganda (5% to 6%) ranks near the top of Africa's other economies.

What separates Uganda from many other countries in Africa and also in other emerging markets is the growth in foreign direct investment, over recent years. And if you consider that FDI in Uganda was flat or negative during most of the 1980's the $240m attracted in 2005 is quite astounding.

So, I would say that for now Uganda is an emerging economy of the world and amongst Africa's growth economies Uganda is one of the highlights. However, there are still hurdles...the next major milestone for this economy would be for economic growth to reach a wider cross section of Uganda's population such that the common person of Uganda is able to benefit more directly.

beninmwangi says:

Is Uganda an emerging economy? (Paul Busharizi)

trpw hbflsovz etswzi jfiuz ushqbefy minbo jdbv

(unknown) says:

trpw hbflsovz etswzi jfiuz ushqbefy minbo jdbv
