How about Haloscan
so many blogs use them instead of Blogger comments it would be great if ccComment worked with it!

Re: How about Haloscan
Before, I would use the "Control-A" trick to add Haloscan comments into coCo. Now, I notice this no longer works.
Could it be reinstated, please? It was a good way to make sure coCo had comments that were either incorrectly captured or not normally captured using the standard process.

Control-A? Not sure what you mean by that. Maybe you know a trick I don't :-)
Selecting text and capturing it by clicking the coco-button or bookmarklet should still work.

Re: How about Haloscan
Before, with blogs where there was some incompatibility with coComment (e.g. the Haloscan ones, or Jason Calcanis's ones such as Autoblog), I would do this:
type the comment;
click Control-A;
activate the bookmarklet;
instead of the regular coComment floating window, where I could only edit the URL, titles, name and tags, there was a special 'Add' window. This contained the highlighted text, the usual fields, and an 'Add' button;
click 'Add'.
This way, the comment was sent to coComment in full. After that, I would deactivate the bookmarklet and submit as normal to the blog.
It was an easy workaround for these blogs so coComment got the comment text, not just some Haloscan code number.
You could employ the same trick when coCo might have accidentally missed capturing a post—even if that post made it to the blog. Then, you'd return to the page, highlight the text, and click Control-A, and add the comment ex post facto.

Re: How about Haloscan
Capturing text selected inside a textarea never worked for me. Does it still work for you when you select the text *after* you posted it? That's the way it always worked for me, and still does.

Re: How about Haloscan
I always did it before I sent the comment to the blog and it worked fine, till this release. Let me try the "after" method and get back to you.

Re: How about Haloscan
Mocha, your way still works but here's why I liked "my" way.
I would type the comment, hit Control-A, activate the bookmarklet, then 'Add' the comment to coCo. I'd deactivate the bookmarklet, then submit to the blog.
Now, I would have to type the comment, submit to the blog, wait for the comment to appear on the blog (and it may not, if the blog is moderated), search for the text, highlight that text, then activate the bookmarklet and submit to coCo.
Two very good example of such blogs where I would have to return later are Autoblog and TV Squad—I have to go through an email confirmation process before my post appears.
Unless I am missing something?
I don't mean to say that your way is not as good—obviously your method was the one this feature was designed for. But I see the impracticality of it if the blog is moderated, and I would miss tracking a conversation as there's no guarantee I would remember to return to the blog.

Re: How about Haloscan
No argument there! I see the usefullness of the Control-A trick, otherwise I wouldn't have tried it myself and I wouldn't know that it never worked for me. You're still using Maxton, right?
Whenever I tried this myself, it might have been on a Mac, not sure. Maybe it was just on the Mac, where this didn't work. I'll look into it.
I'm not aware of what might have changed that would break the Control-A trick. I don't think I changed the code that extracts the selection in any way. Does the text in your textarea stay selected after you click the bookmarklet?

Re: How about Haloscan
Thanks, Mocha. Yep, I'm still on Maxthon.
Let me confirm the text area selection now. I know a blog I can try this on.

IT seems to be capturing Haloscan for me now. Not all the time, but quite a bit now..
