Cocomment disables pages built with ASP.NET "Atlas" Ajax stack
Hi there,
I've been trying out Cocomment over the past week and I really like it. I did run into a problem today that I want to bring to your attention.
When using the Cocomment Firefox extension on a page built with Microsoft's Ajax stack (known as "Atlas"), it appears as if Cocomment interacts with the Javascript generated by Atlas in such a way that makes the Atlas script stop processing events after the first event on the page is triggered. (In other words, the Ajax postback capabilities break after the first postback.)
To see how this works, go to this page:
http://atlas.asp.net/docs/atlas/samples … l1_cs.aspx
Scroll down the page to Example 2. Enter text in the box and click "Update UserControl". The text below the button should update (as expected). However, when you enter something different in the text box and hit the Update button again, the text does not update as expected.
I am using this page as an example because it's public and very simple, but I have encountered this problem with an application I'm building that uses the Atlas library as well, so it seems likely that every page that uses both Atlas and Cocomment will have this problem.
I have been able to reproduce this problem on Firefox 1.5.0.5 on Windows XP SP2 as well as Macintosh OS X 10.4.7. The problem goes away when I use Internet Explorer (it also goes away when I uninstall the Cocomment Firefox extension from my machine).
It would be terrific to know if anyone else can reproduce this problem and if so whether there's a resolution.
Thanks!
Jeffrey

Yes, I can reproduce it. It works with automatic-mode turned off, but breaks with automatic mode turned on. Thanks for pointing it out. Not sure about the resolution yet :-) ...I'm looking into it.

Steven Harman seems to have tracked this down:
