I recommend to use Lorance Stinson's AWK CSV parser script available at http://lorance.freeshell.org/csv/

It deals very well with double quotes.

If on a system [[http://www.gnu.org/software/parted/|GNU parted]] is available one might want to use ''parted -l'' to list disks, partitions, sizes and file systems. It features nicely formatted output (see below) and detects NTFS file systems. It does not show mount points and free disk spaces, though.

debian:~# parted -l

Thanks a lot for this article. Especially, I like the simplicity of your "solutions". "Shadow with Image" could of course be done in the way of "Rounded corners" and hence would be more independent of the picture's size.

Thanks folks! And special thanks to Mohan for the reminder ;) Here is a one-liner which calls _awk_ only once:

ifconfig eth0 | awk 'NR==2 {v=match($0,"inet addr:([0-9.]*) "); print substr($0, RSTART+10,RLENGTH-11)}'

HTH.
