"If you are confused and/or distracted by something emotional - ie. not tangible and in your head - it will negatively affect your work and the people around you." Work is an emotional and emotion generating environment - we don't bring our feelings in from somewhere else and let them contaminate our work settings. Feeling and emotion that happens during our work day is inevitably linked to the work environment and as such is not only personal but socially constructed and systemic. We have to get away from the misguided notion that feelings are personal and somehow inferior to rationale - this simply isn't the case.
