I guess this might be different on a class/group blog, I hope so as I've commented on a few. My own class always seem encouraged by adult comments on their class blog, I'd not thought through the difference with personal blogs, but it it is an important point I think.

Hi,
I am from Glasgow in Scotland. There is a little gambling here but nothing like Las Vegas, I visited a friend there about 30 years ago!
Although Scotland's biggest city Glasgow is very near to quiet bits of beautiful country side where you can feel quite alone. I love walking in the hill near by and not seeing anyone all day but I also like living in the city.
It is a lot cooler in Scotland than in Las Vegas and rains quite often, this helps keep everything green.

Unfortunately delicious is blocked in our school, I'd love to try and use it in the way you are doing, an old fashioned links page is too hard to keep on top of.
I've been using del.icio.us for a while but keep seeing new and creative ideas like these ones thanks for sharing.
The emw idea is one I'll borrow next session.

I like the way some of the characters' characteristics work against each other, mystical and evil. Great pictures too.

Worried never, but it is nice to have a backup;-)
Certainly rss would make more sense, they seem to be using a 3rd party rss javascript widget for that.
The blog or wiki embedding is just a frame so you could use any webpage. I guess ethically you would need to have permission to display a webpage, rss being designed for distribution is less problematic as I see it.

Yes Robert,
compared to a secure and loving home, school with all ict bells and whistles is just gravy.

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that the difference between the best and worst teaching would only have a small effect on a child's reading ability. I imagine everything else is the same. How we get this simple need answered in society, is not so simple though.

We are letting children loose without any real guidance,
Hi Neil,
One of the important ideas about blogging with children is that we are modelling 'good' behaviour and giving the children a chance to use web 2.0 tools in a responsible manner. In exactly the same way as we model good manners and politeness in the 'real' world. I tell my children that blogging is similar to going on a school trip, they get fun but are representing themselves and their school and need to take on that responsibility. They may choose to act in other ways outside school but at least we will have shown them an alternative and given then a chance to practice.
