<content>I've heard Leigh Blackall talk about copyright and specifically address how "By-No$-ShareAlike" (cc) can be problematic; how a simple "By" (cc) is a better option. I've been thinking about it a lot since then but still don't fully understand his perspective. I don't know if his perspective is the same as yours (you both advocate for "By" (cc)), but this post was the most articulate and clear argument for using a "By" (cc) license I've read. Thanks D'Arcy. I'm rethinking my licensing ... again. ;-)</content>

<content>I remember when I told my wife we were moving from Montreal to Winnipeg. I remember the sinking feeling I had in my stomach doing it without a job to go to and a baby to raise. The start was very hard. Looking back, it was a great decision. I've grown and learned so much as a result of that move and the things that have happened to me since. Now there's 3 kids to raise and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Like you alluded to in your post, they say when a door closes a window opens. Just wanted to let you know I'm one of folks on the other side of the window cheering for you. You don't need luck my friend; you've got talent. The rest is details. With a little energy those details will sort themselves out. ;-)

Cheers!</content>

        <content>Hey Dan,

Brilliant lesson! Great way to leverage all those tools ... for the DVDs, does twittering count? If so I found out about your post from Chris Craft who just tweeted(?) it. ;-)

Cheers,

        <content>Hi Robert,

Thanks for the pointer to GeoGebra. The screencast was great! As a matter of fact we watched it in my grade 12 (16 &amp; 17+ years old) precalculus class today. The comment from m@rk above was left right after we watched the video. This is the class that I'm &lt;a href="http://www.wsd1.org/dmci/mathweb/site/PreCal40s/EBB5B082-AB32-4266-A038-68197CCC960E.html"&gt;podcasting&lt;/a&gt; this semester. The kids applauded after the screencast. ;-) (I introduced my class to you about halfway through the podcast.)

I'm teaching vectors later this semester and our grade 11 course (16 year olds) has an entire unit on circle geometry and the properties of angles and chords in circles. This software looks like it's going to be great ... once I get past the learning curve. ;-)

Cheers,
Darren</content>

<content>Thanks for sharing your thinking and methods Dan. You've really given me some food for thought.

I've started and restarted writing this comment 6 times ... I've got to mull this over a little bit but you've inspired me. I've got to do some serious rethinking about how I do assessment.

One question though ... how do you come up with a numeric grade for each of your students? What weighting do you assign the concept checklist? Do you do other sorts of assessment as well such as project work or other long term assignments? Has the concept list replaced both tests and quizzes?

Just curious ... and thinking. ;-)

Cheers!</content>
