I don’t like it either if people chatter when the movie is on, even if they are my good friends. Okay, I might be tolerant for a while, but if they continue I tell them to keep quiet. I consider myself lucky if they take me seriously :) And one more thing, if anyone tries to tell me the story of the movie, I can be quite rude.

I dont know why people assume that it's okay to chatter between scenes. I'm a very serious movie watcher and only like watching movies with people who have similar tastes. I can't tolerate it either when my friends start talking in the middle. I stop responding ;)

Thanks for tagging me. I should be able to write a post today.

Everyone- Thanks a lot for your concern. :) I'm really touched. The fact that I'm taking out time to reply to your comments shows that I feel much better, mentally and physically. Things are getting back on track again, and I hope they stay this way.

Anand- Probably this happened at the right time- new town, new life etc. I'm seeing things in new light now. I think this incident has made me a stronger person, (a little more cynical though...at least for now.) ;)

Nova- I guess any time is the right time. I'm not sure if this was the right time, because I already had/have a lot of tension. :) But...no sweat!

Katy- Hi! Thanks for stopping by here. It's good to know that people at Tumblr also care about my life. I feel much better now, and I'm sure you've noticed that I've started Tumblr-ing again. :)

Poonam- Scary it was! The first thing that came to my mind after I got out of the car was the expenses that will rise...and yes, my expenses have risen a lot. I was forced to buy a new car, even though I didn't want one (right now). Anyway...I guess some good might come out of it later. :)

Inx- Thanks for your concern. That's very nice of you. I feel much better now, thanks to all the lovely people in my life.

Dinsan- Yes, blessed I am. Not many people would have survived it. I guess there is some unfinished business; that's the reason I didn't die. ;)

Balu- Yeah...for sure. This incident has already started affecting my life in a number of ways. I hope I become a better person.

Shefaly- Yes, you're right. I was thinking about the same thing when I actually typed it out. I don't want to see anyone in this condition ever. :)

Ish- You're really sounding like an old man ;) Someone very philosophical and all grown up. Hehe. Sorry, can't stop laughing. Anyway, I'm much better now. Can't believe that I week back, a couple of hours from this time, I was in involved in a road accident.

Oh, and did I tell you that it feels nice to be missed? Finish your exams, and then we'll do tons of blogging/talking :)

"kya kya karwati hai mujhse"

Achcha? Chalo theek hai..at least I have some power to make you do something ;)

Anirudh- Thanks :) Am much better already.

Amit- Thanks for checking up on me :P I haven't seen Final Destination, so I can't comment. But I'm certainly glad that my love for movies helped me write this post in a Hollwood-ish manner. And I'm even more glad to know that you downloaded Bad Education. I'll wait for your response.

And thank you for missing me...heh. I wouldn't have been able to blog or ever let you people know what's happened to me, if I had died....and you people would have assumed that I have abandoned Wordpress.com.

Thesuda- Oh, so one good thing definitely happened because of my accident: One anonymous reader took the time to finally comment. :) Thanks a lot for your concern. I didn't mean to make this into a dard bhari story, but I don't know how else to write about it, after taking into account my mediocre writing abilities. Btw, where do you blog?

Xylene- Thanks :) Am much better now.

Amon.by.the.sea, Anshul- Thanks. I'm hanging in there. :)

Nita- Yes, I realize that there are lots of people out there who like/love me, even here at Wp.com. I'm quite lucky that way :) It's always good to know that people missed me. I feel like I've been away from blogging since ages. I can't wait to start blogging again and reading my friends' blogs. I remember writing that comment on your blog, a very long time ago. I was happy to find someone who was blogging about Pune; so I decided to leave a comment. Very sweet of you to go back and search for my first comment. Really!

Rahul- Thank you for your concern, and keep visiting. I swear I write better stuff ;)

Lallo- Yep, sick joke it was. Very sick joke. And I've seen Dr. Strangelove...one of Kubrick's best, I must say. It's one of my all time favorite movies. :)

Indisch- Thank you :) I think I read that post on Blue, but didn't quite find the time to comment. I have bought the Trois Coeleurs DVD collection. I can watch it again and again without getting bored, and every single time you watch it, you'll notice something new.

Lisa- I'm so sorry to hear that. Traveling by car is much more dangerous compared to traveling by plane; yet people in the US travel extensively by car. One person dies every 13 minutes in a car accident and there are around 6.2 million accidents every years in the US. :( Thank you for your concern..I'm doing much better now.

Arvind- Yes, you better wait :) I might still not find much time to blog...but I'll try my best. Ahh...so many people commented here...such an ego booster.

Amit- Thank you for your concern and for that yoga tip. Actually, I do know a lot of Yoga and had attended these classes as a kid. I should try and meditate for a couple of minutes everyday.

Amyth- Second life for sure. Not sure about thanking God, but I'm really glad to be alive. :P

Ian- So sorry to hear that...I'm really scared of getting on to a freeway again. I know that I can't stay this way forever...but I don't know...I seem to have lost my confidence when it comes to driving even though I know that it was not my fault.

Arjun- :) I'm doing fine now. Don't worry. I should be up and bouncing in no time.

Forgot to add another thing- So many Indians come to the US and get a new name- Anything- Lisa Brown, Brad Pitt etc. Why?
Nita, I completely agree with you here. I have friends in Singapore who've told me first hand that they gt discriminated against, when they look for jobs, because they're of Indian origin. Having a company policy that prohibits any kind of discrimination is proof that there won't be any discrimination. We are all human after all. Any recruiter who comes across a resume carrying a foreign name will be perturbed. Forget about a foreign name. Even in India, I know that people don't want to give jobs to ST/SC. And I was told about it from a friend of mine who is SC. She told me that her mom has a very prestigious position in a post office, yet the peon refuses to bring her water/tea anything!

Even in the US, there are EEO organizations, but I don't feel that people follow it 100%. I can give you a couple of personal examples, but I'll let it be for now. It's quite upsetting for me personally.

And I'm sure that graph is 99% correct.

Nita- Surprising to see you blog about Technology and Web 2.0 start ups. I'm a big fan of Web 2.0 and anything that's got to do with new websites. :) Facebook is really big here and I use it on a regular basis to sell/buy stuff at throw away prices from students in the city. I also use it for other advertisement purposes- all for free. Whereas, Ebay charges me a listing fee and another exit fee if I end up finding a buyer. :| I don't know if this is relevant to your post, but I could write an entire post in your comment section on this topic. :P

Also, my personal observation is that Indians HIGHLY prefer Orkut. I was one of the first adopters of Orkut and one of the first people to leave it too. Most of my school friends are on Orkut. Facebook- more American friends. Indians have just started signing up for Facebook, but they can't move ahead of Orkut somehow.

Monster is not doing well here and it's become more of a spammy job site. The number of people who apply for each job that's listed on Monster is so high, that most of the times, you don't even get a job, unless you're going through a vendor. I have first hand experience with this. :)

LinkedIn is a great site for professional networking here. I've added some value to my network because of it. Flickr is another amazing photo service. You might also want to take a look at Zooomr.com, which has unlimited online storage. :) Also, ffffound.com is a lovely site for finding interesting pictures. I while away lots of my time on these websites. :P

Re: India and the porn/sex industry, I have an interesting graph that I plan to put on my blog soon. You should keep an eye for that.

Shefaly- Add Bengaluroo (sp?) to that list too. I was browsing Google Maps and the name stared at me. :| "Indianisation" of names, if you will? There are so many other ways of Indianising the country, apart from mutilating historically beautiful City names.

Same with roads being renamed in Calcutta - who DOES call it Shakespeare Sarani or Mother Teresa Sarani, and not Theatre Road or Park Street?

I didn't know that Park Street is known as Mother Teresa Sarani! It shows how much people like us really care about these new names. The names of cities/roads might look/sound trivial to some, but for me, they carry nostalgic value. :) And they take away some shine from my life and memories when they change names so easily. Does anyone ever ask the residents of a particular street if they would like their houses to be associated with another great personality?

@Ish- Funny ad :) Any Youtube video online? And what's the name of the company?

Arvind, Poonam- Yes, quite funny and unbelievable at the same time.

Xylene- That's news to me. :) I know that many people keep their relationship status as "Single" on networking sites in order to flirt...but doing this as a way to break off...wow! Very interesting.

Nita- There is an option to turn off the comments for particular posts. But yes, this means that we won't be able to hold discussions with some close blog friends either. That's the downside for sure. :( One of the best things about blogging is that you get to be your own boss and write on topics that are close to your heart. You are the Editor, Creator, Writer ...everything. :) I'm on the threshold of starting my career, but I hope there comes a day when I'll be able to quit my job and not worry about appealing to anyone's whims and fancies.

Dinsan- What pic? Where is it? Can't see anything. And where did you get my pic from? :o

Saaki- In fact, many people change their reln. status to committed just for the shock value ;) Because I always always inquire if a friend goes from being single to committed. Likewise, if someone goes from committed to single..well..I'm a little careful then, because the other person might not want to talk about the broken heart. I've come across people advertising themselves as single, when in fact, they are committed.

@Ish- (Refer to Shefaly's comment)-Haven't you seen Aishwarya Rai in Devdas? Isshh!
I still use the word "Isshhh" very often, something that non-Calcuttans find very amusing. :)

@Poonam- Thanks for reminding me! :) I need to add that to the list. My mouth's almost watering. And thank you for understanding "Phule phule dole dole". Don't know if people know about this song.

@Bipin- You can go to City Center (Salt Lake): Huge shopping mall with some multiplexes too. :) I think you can do lots of things for time pass over there. Just ask any taxi guy to take you there. And yes, I love the name "Calcutta'. It's a habitual as well as a conscious decision.

@Anand- Are you from Calcutta? How do you know about City Center? I don't know much about Delhi/Bombay, but it's weird that even Bombay doesn't have anything like City Center? I still remember going to that mall Crossroads a very long time back.

@Shefaly- Grave error. :) I don't know how I forgot. I need to edit my list.

Please don't apologize :) You didn't say anything that hurt me. And it's always best to hit the "Submit" button without reviewing what you've written. At least, that's what I do.

I'm a big Kubrick fan. I've seen almost all of his movies, including the first few ones. You need to watch his stuff...Space Odessey, Full Metal Jacket...such gems. Really. You'll want to watch them again and again. So many times, I just go to IMDB and re-read the memorable quotes. :)

Kingdom of Heaven is good..agree with you. ) And I've seen the uncut version of LOTR. Nothing compared to the book, but it's still good. I like Fantasy kind of movies and lengthy films generally don't deter me, if they're good.

The Hobbit is also being made into a movie (or has already been made?). Btw, do you plan to watch Persepolis? It's based on that graphic novel. I'm dying to watch it.

I think they are quite evil. Just because they have a monopoly on the OS industry doesn't give them any right to bundle Internet Explorer, MSN, etc. So many people won't even bother downloading alternative softwares, because of these pre-packaged softwares and this is exactly what this lawsuit was about.

@Carrot

Read my previous response to Anand. :) It's not about people being "free" to download other products. How many people really download other stuff, if they already have pre packaged goodies? When I was a new computer user, I didn't even know about Yahoo! IM. I used MSN Messenger for a long time. So, MSFT's bundling in of other products eats away the market share of its competitors for sure. Selling the OS (for which they get a good price too) should be independent of other activities.

@Balu, Xylene and Amit

Well, it is a big deal. You are paying for the OS, for which you shouldn't be paying first of all. Go and try Linux. It's better than Windows and is FREE. And Microsoft "had failed to charge rivals reasonable prices for access to key information about its work-group or back-office servers in contravention of the 2004 ruling." Free market, anyone? Try Firefox instead of IE and Try Thunderbird instead of Outlook and see the difference. If you guys want everything for free, then don't pay for the OS too.

@Shefaly

Did you hear that Google had made an offer to Yahoo = they were willing to help Yahoo with their search engine if Yahoo refuses the MSFT offer and teams up with Google. Google might be in trouble in the future too and I wish for it to. Their stocks are already tanking. I'm pretty sure that they are not doing much about click fraud, even though they claim the exact opposite.

@Apple News

Thanks :) I'm pleased too.

It was even nominated for the Oscars (even though I didn't personally like the movie one bit). Haven't yet seen the Jessie James movie, but I plan to, some time soon for sure. I've put the Hindi movies int he Non-English list because I found it very difficult to come up with an entire list of Hindi movies that I might have enjoyed.

@Shefaly

Thanks for the link. I read the article, though I don't really agree with what the writer's got to say. I don't know about post-feminism. People associate the word feminist with all kinds of meanings, but I would like to believe that I'm a feminist. I believe that men and women are equal. Nobody is superior / inferior and I don't indulge in cat fights. But anyway, this has nothing to do with my movie watching. Could you tell me which movies acc. to you are "women's movies" and which are "chick flicks"? :) Perhaps, I'll be better able to understand your taste then. :)

@Shruti

Yes, I've seen Monalisa smile. I'm not a big Julia Roberts fan. The movie was all right, and it showed some of the realities of the American era in the '50 and '60s. I did find some of the scenes to be disturbing and insulting though. But it was worth a watch. And you are right about men and chick flicks- They even evnjoy saas bahu serials, but won't admit it. :)

Oh I get your point. So, it is Rs. 15/hour then. Even I started thinking that Rs. 450/hour is a little too much according to the Indian standard of living.

I think you might want to change the wording here:

There are three aspects to this:
1) Is Rs 450/- an hour fair and just?
2) Can it be implemented?
3) What about the rest of India?

and make it Rs. 15/hour or Rs. 450/month, for an hour's work everyday.

Coming back to the original topic, Indians have gotten used to cheap domestic help and this ruling, according to me, is a very good initiative taken. We need to respect our domestic helpers and put the dignity of labor right on to the map. Coughing up more money for their valuable service will help home owners appreciate them more. And Rs. 15/hour for so much of manual labor is nothing. Most of us will still be able to afford the luxury of hiring a helper. If people can't afford it, then they are better of working by themselves- either buy more electrical appliances or do some physical work ;) I can give you my example- I never used to cook/work when I was in India and after coming here, I had to do everything. Plus, I've started appreciating domestic help a lot. It's time to do the same in India. Oh, in fact, I think we need to also include a minimum acceptable tip level in India. Nobody wants to pay tips in India and even if they pay, it's not much.

Nita, I don't know why, but I'm finding the mathematical terminology that's been used confusing and conflicting. For eg-

[Rs 450/- a month for an hour’s work a day ]

Are you saying that Rs. 450 for ((1 hr/day)*30 days)=Rs. 450 for 30 hours of work, (which means 450/30 hrs=Rs. 15/hr?)

Then again,

[Is Rs 450/- an hour fair and just?]

Do you mean Rs. 450 for each hour's of work? That amounts to Rs. 450*1 hr/day*30 days= Rs. (450*30)/ month= Rs. 13,500.

Another case:

[Rs 3600/- a month (for 8 hours work everyday)]

Rs. 450*8 hours=3600 Rs. everyday (because you mention that it's 8 hours everyday). So 8 hours everyday times 30 days= 240 hours per month.

Total wage PER MONTH= 240 hours *Rs. 450/hr=Rs 108,00 per month and not Rs. 3600 per month.

And so on and so forth. In all these mathematical calculations, I lost track of the original point.

I think there is global competition everywhere. So why single out Hindi movies? If they compete for Oscars, then we need to look at them at an international level. :)

Even I'm not really a fan of Ash, to tell you the truth. Probably I found her more tolerable because she didn't have many dialogues and the movie was a costume drama anyway! I didn't expect the movie to stick to facts; so I'm not complaining on that quarters at all. But yes, I do think that Hrithik was very good in some scenes, but in many other scenes, he was quite mediocre.

Haven't yet tried mininova.org; so I think I will give that a try. :) Thanks a lot for your help. I'm pretty uneducated as far as torrent files go.

I love rapidshare links because all I need to do is reset my internet to get a new IP and I can keep downloading. Unfortunately, I couldn't find this book in either of these sites. Do you have any idea where else I could search? Thanks a lot :)

@Balu

Okay this is information over load for me :| *Bleep bleep* My system has stopped working. Hehe. I have never used Opera actually.

From all your comments, I gather that I should go for BitComet, which seems to be the popular choice and since so many of you use it, I guess I'll find more peers also? (Is that the right word? Duh.). And Flashget next, if I get tired of Bitcomet's resource hogging. Everyone, thank you for your help! Should have asked this question earlier. I didn't know that so many of you are torrent experts.

@Ish

Wow! :( That's really sad. I don't know why parents side with older cousins. Even my parents used to do this when I was young. I guess, it's better if you don't discuss movies with them :D People have different opinions. I almost had a fight with my mom and sis over RDB, when I said that it's a crap movie and that Aamir looks too old to play a college yuppie. It was difficult writing this review, considering the complicated story line! :) I tried my best not to give out any details though. The comments section is another case, where spoilers are allowed!

Frankly speaking, all the time, I did question myself that why exactly is Ignacio going on asking Enrique to call him Angel! Plus, he was not showing any affection towards Enrique either, esp. after you consider the fact that both of them were really close to each other as kids. So I did feel that something is definitely wrong. But I wasn't really ready for what the director really showed us later. :D But I really enjoyed the ride...even though it was a little creepy sometimes.

And won't you agree with me that Gael was brilliant as Zahara? At least from behind, nobody can say that Zahara is a guy! Even from the front...such flawless impersonation. He must have done a lot of research for this role.

Now I think, you're over-reacting :) It's best not to talk to Aamir fans regarding his movies. I've realized that. Oh, and btw, SRK wont the Best Actor award for Chak De :) Truly deserved I think. Filmfare's very chaalu- they kept everyone happy. If SRK got the popular award, then Darsheel got the critic's award. And of course, even though Aamir hadn't come, they gave him Best Film and Best Director. If they wouldn't have given, then Aamir would have said that these Award functions are unfair (of course!). I didn't see the Awards (no live telecast here), but read the news online.

@Ish, Yes Ive heard of VIT, but don't know any batch mate who's a product of that college. It's a reputed college for engineering...I know that much. :)

And don't worry about the internet connection; you can use your cell phone for connecting to the internet, right? Take some data plan. Or take some internet service in your room. You can do a computers degree without internet!

@Amit

Yes, I've seen The Pianist and I love that movie :) The novel's great too. Why did you feel sick? Your rating suggests that you liked the movie!

Re: Meeting

Okay here's the deal: This year, I'm most probably not coming to India at all :( I might come in December, but that too, I'm not sure. So, if we do have a bloggers meet, it won't be before next year. Btw, Amit, where are you located in India? (If you don't mind revealing). I'm sure I'll be going to Bombay/Pune/Delhi on my next trip. And I stay in Calcutta. Don't know about the other cities though.

And Ish, I hope you get into a college in Delhi :D Nothing like it. Then toh I'll ask you to come to the airport to meet me ;)

@Arvind

I think Irrfan Khan has acted in all kinds of roles- have you seen him in Maqbool (that's when I became his fan), or The Namesake? He was quite decent in Life in a Metro and A Mighty Heart too. Whereas Nana Patekar only comes in movie where the actor is required to shout.

And if you're really Aamir's fan, then you can win this fight :P You need to at least try. As far as the range of roles is concerned, I think SRK has a wider range. He even acted as a villian in Daar, Baazigar, Anjaam In fact, he started off more as a villian and then moved on to the lover boy kind of roles. So how can you say that he only comes in romantic movies? Aamir has never played a dark role. See, whatever an actor does is reduced to dust if he doesn't know how to promote himself or doesn't have good PR skills and that is Aamir's biggest problem. He literally uses the media. He gives interviews when he wants to and acts rude with the media when he wants to. Such whim and fancy obviously doesn't work. He shirks off Indian awards in favor of the Oscars and then says that he doesn't care about awards. And look at this blog/website. It's a peace of crap. :P He doesn't even know how to write, I'm serious. His posts are SO BORING. Better not to have a website than to have something that's so bakwaas.

@Ish

How was my comment? ;)

@Ankur

I know why your comment gets stuck now. You use "//" for quoting and WP.com interprets this as part of a hyperlink. So maybe you should use plain brackets or quotes.

all i can conclude is that female bloggers like film actress r most desirable when they r single. (or atleast perceived as one)

Whom are you talking about? I'm the only female blogger on this blog. And what does blogging got to do with being desirable or being single? I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say, considering the fact that you quoted a line where I was talking about the kiss part. Please clarify.
