I used to have an unmoderated comments section in my personal blog. But when there are commenters (always hiding behind anonymity) who, instead of contributing to the discussion, would always resort to abusive speech or degrading people, I think I've had enough. I don't think having comments moderation will discourage people from commenting. Those who're genuinely interested in contributing to the discussion are not discouraged by this, as I know bloggers who still frequent sites that have installed moderation. It is, I think, a form of protection some bloggers need, especially those who are often targets of people who'd rather use ad hominem arguments than presenting their arguments for or against the topics being discussed.

"You became en Elitist by the way you interact with people."

--- I very much agree. As an example, I don't believe that just because some people prefer to use English as their language they're already elitist (some people have that notion that you have less love for your country and for your fellowmen when you use English). It's just that these people are used to speaking the language and are more comfortable with it. So, in blogs, if people choose to use English, it doesn't mean they're elitist or trying to be cool. It's just that they're more comfortable using it.

You do not define an elitist merely by his language preference, his TV-viewing preference, or his choice of friends.

Singaw is different from Herpes simplex. And they look very different from each other.

Singaw are actually aphthous ulcers, located in the inner mucosa of the oral cavity. Herpes simplex virus produce oral ulcers, usually located in the corner of the mouth or in the upper and lower lips.

I'd like to congratulate you, Abe, for doing something like this, interviewing Carl and his dad. It's the rational way of going about things. Yeah, there has been a lot of commotion in the blogosphere regarding this. Although we cannot really completely remove the possibility that people will speculate about the real identity of the blog's writer (who doesn't gossip, anyway?), there are just some that could go overboard. At least now, there's a balance of perspectives available. Actually, I'm kind of "expecting" that Carl would be posting his defense, though I shouldn't really expect him to. But, at least now, he's been given the chance to speak for himself, in a manner of speaking.

Maybe this should make the issue simmer down a bit. Personally, I've already voiced out my doubts about the authorship of the blog. But that's it. I don't want to delve into the issues of the ethics related to it, though I cannot really prevent others from speculating some more nor do I have the right to prevent them from doing so.

I guess we could just leave the kid alone and stop reading the blog if it's offending.Or we could continue on reading the blog if the information we derive from it is useful for us, and not focus anymore about what is deemed a doubtful authorship.

Yes, that is one of the things that we have to accept. As kids, we've been used to the idea that our parents can do anything and be anything.
I asked Pierre and a law student friend of mine about blog plagiarism. It seems that it would almost be impossible to pursue such a case in court. My friend said it would be complicated because, first of all, under which jurisdiction, should a case be filed, would it be? Also, it would be hard proving that the plagiarist didn't know or knows about your creative commons license.

Why am I getting so OC about this? Just in case I might need to kick some plagiarist ass someday. Haha.

It just makes me wonder why so many people are so focused about the "life" they'll have after they die. What about their life now? Who minds about it for them?

Multiple blogs are good, especially if you're just overflowing with ideas to blog about. You're at a disadvantage, though, if you're working full-time or if you're not in control of your working hours.

I used to manage multiple blogs but now I've trimmed it down to my main site and my photo gallery. I don't post that often or even if I post everyday I usually just post a short entry. Yes, it will help if you have multiple blogs, each for your distinct interests. But you have to keep your readership by providing fresh content often.

If you want to maintain multiple blogs, then just stick to wordpress. In that way, you don't have to worry about adjusting to the different interface, functionality, etc.

I monetize my blog every now and then by putting up sponsored posts. But I don't overrun my site with ads.

Whoa, that's a major turn-off for me. I like Chiz Escudero and I thought he's fighting for better education for the Filipino youth. But with that statement he made about removing algebra, trig, geometry, and calculus from the high school curriculum is just plain dumb. I'm not really a fan of mathematics but I do believe they still should be taught in school. Kawawa naman ang Filipino students if they find themselves math idiots after they graduate from high school just because of these revisions. How could we even be at par with our neighboring countries if we're going to take away important subjects in school? I t is the wrong solution to the problem of classroom shortage and decreasing quality of education our students are receiving.

In my medical practice, I've seen a lot of "educated" and well-to-do women still inducing abortion. Would you believe I had a patient who's a medical student and still had induced abortion? One would think that she knows better. But still it's a problem for many and there are a lot of factors to consider. This country has been overly religious, that they don't know the difference anymore between religion and spirituality. No, I'm not for pro-abortion. What I would rather have is a complete awareness of reproductive health. Religion doesn't have to interfere with it. And people are just so damn stubborn, really. Have you notice that with your patients? It's hard to educate patients when they themselves do not want to learn. It's sad, really.
