PalCabral,
No apology necessary! This is insightful and interesting. My knowledge of relationships among Nordic societies is very limited so this really puts things in perspective.
Are you currently living in Norway? Is it now easy to get high quality coffee beans over there?
Is there a coffee style in Norway which brings together the type of weaker coffee people had been drinking in past generations with the trendy bold espressi from the Northwest Coast of North America? In fact, weak coffee can be very pleasing and the type of Vancouver/Seattle espresso that is typical at barista competitions (and Starbucks locations) is but one of the possible variants. My feeling is that there's room for all sorts of coffee tastes.
Thanks again for your insight!

The Norwegian who wrote the forum post I pasted here is Pal Cabral: http://www.coffeegeek.com/members/BicaGuy
About Norway not having any Starbucks, it does sound like a good sign but it's still possible that *$ will eventually open some locations over there. They're in other parts of Europe already, even places which have a rich café culture like France, Switzerland, and Spain. Here's the list of International Starbucks websites:
› Australia
› Austria/Österreich
› Beijing
› Brazil
› Canada
› China
› France
› Germany/Deutschland
› Greece
› Hawaii
› Hong Kong
› Japan
› Malaysia
› New Zealand
› Peru
› Shanghai
› Singapore
› South Korea
› Spain/España
› Switzerland/Schweiz
› Taiwan
› Thailand
› Turkey/Trkiye
› United Kingdom

(No idea why Beijing and Shangai have sites separate from the PRC one...)

Came here through Language Log. Non-knitting French-speaking Canadian, here. (My mother is an avid knitter but isn't spending any time online.)

Been trying to use Canadian spellings as much as possible. Although, we weren't specifically taught them in school. Makes it a bit difficult.
Stand up for your rights! Language prescriptivists aren't just boring. They're unhealthy.

As it so happens, coffee is one of my passions. Not only as a morning ritual but as a drink with extremely diverse flavours and aromas. Been homeroasting green beans to get the freshest aromas possible. Often using a Bialetti Brikka moka pot (the lid is supposed to be open during the brew). Coffee is more than just good. The odours filling my house do more than wake me up. They maintain my happiness.

So... Keep up the good work!

Erm... Call me naïve (I'm used to it) but it seems to me that this guy, apart from being clueless, is a probably non-native speaker of English (Mandarin-speaker, maybe?). Not an excuse for his behaviour, of course. But it explains the tone of his emails, to a certain extent.
Personally, I would try to take the whole situation with a grain of salt. You know this guy can't do anything to you. He's frustrated about something he perceives as being unfair and isn't finding the right way to resolve the situation. Is he really the only person you know who does this?
I agree with Nice Guy above: make his site known and he'll be very happy. His clumsy approach sound more like a desperate attempt at getting hits than an intimidation tactic.
Mercy trumps fear.
