It's behind my house in Pigtown, and I have been a few times. It's a nice friendly bar, and the drinks are poured nice and stiff. The cost is not terribly bad either, and the proprietors are nice folk.

As for cigars, I haven't tried since the ban went into effect. They had a nice yet small collection of stogies to choose from.

Actually, Todd, I have never had a problem in upgrading any of my WordPress installations, and I have been a faithful WordPress user for quite a while. For me, it is a simple FTP install, as I find that the one-click install webhosts provide tends to lag a bit.

That said, updating plugins can be a small hassle, but the later versions of WP have a way to alert an Admin user to updates for their themes and plugins. I fail to see how this is difficult, but I will admit I have not toyed with email notifications from my admin interface as to when updates are available.

We can agree to disagree on this one, but I found the SixApart post to be a bit in the theme of the Mac/PC ads.

That would be nice to have FF as the embedded browser in FD, but I know it was experimental 2-3 years ago, and the development cycle, as Andrew pointed out, just is not in that direction. You would think it is something they are pondering, especially considering their plans for a mobile version of FireFox.

Actually, I have always had one simpler ability in the back of my head: I would love the ability to have FD use Firefox when Firefox is not my default browser--like at work. I love it using the default browser to open external links--something I have to do with lots of newspaper articles--but I need an alternative to address those places where making FF my default browser does not work--mainly those corporate applications we all know and love.

I realize this gets difficult, but I have never dabbled with other ways to do it. I suppose I could do it with some fun Firefox extensions to force certain URLs to open in IE, but I have not had the time to play around with it.

Liking Techmeme. I stopped liking it when it reflected the Silicon Valley circle-jerk that it continues to be. I have read it a bit more in the last few weeks, but mainly since it is entertaining to see what it "bubbles up" as news. Techmeme just has some arbitrary method of defining both the stories and the "leaders." Digg, on the other hand, just has a bunch of blathering idiots who vote up any story that happens to be fanboy-related.

Techmeme sucks, just like Memeorandum sucks (and why both have no place in my aggregator).

Good luck, Ryan. As someone who dropped about 85 pounds a few years ago and has kept it off, I laud you. I was indeed a fat bastard.

I am not a big believer in BMI, but I do think that regular exercise and lots of water helps immensely. Also, as hard as it is, I had success by just cutting things out of my diet completely. As a result, I rarely drink soft drinks now, I drink loads of water, and I work out regularly.

One of the things that helped immensely, too, was cutting out group lunches. Going out at work for lunch was like the worst thing. You eat badly and you spend lots of money. Now, I do that every once in a while. I normally do a salad or sandwich with a yogurt and piece of fruit.
