I can't think of any way to do what you asked. From what I gather, you have multiple folders with files, and want them all to be inside iTunes, and to have the library updated when you physically edit them, or when you edit them in iTunes.

Have you tried importing all music into the iTunes library (letting it copy everything), and letting iTunes control it all? That is what I do, and I find it much more efficient. Any file I open, will open -- and copy itself to itunes. I can then delete the original. iTunes copies it to an Artist Folder, and also an album folder, if available. File names are edited automatically by itunes, usually "track # - Title.mp3" I deleted all track #s, so now it is just "title.mp3"

If safari had Firefox's bookmark functionality, organization, and a cooler theme - I would use it full time.

or on the other hand, If firefox had an activity window like Safari, I would use that full time.

The former would seem easier to pull off.

As for the OP

I like Firefox best. I also use Safari for downloading youtube videos for ipod every once in a while, but Regular day-to-day browsing, I enjoy firefox.

The main reason why is because I often use the "Bookmarks Toolbar"

I have folders in it for "Resources" "Sites" and other stuff. When I click one menu, I have a list of bookmarks in that folder. When I move the mouse over, the next one automatically opens for me, displaying the bookmarks in that folder.

Safari just opens one menu, and makes me click the other ones in order to open them. I know that doesn't sound like a huge issue, but it bothers me. It's like being forced to use the mouse to manually click "search" rather than simply hitting Enter/Return.

I am a bit confused I guess. I need to convert the MPEG files to the iPod M4A format.

If I try to simply drag the file from itunes to the ipod it just won't do this. iTunes is able to play the movie no problems which is a bit confusing I guess.

I need a programme to Convert the file to M4A from MPEG?</blockquote>

Handbrake isn't what you require then, that is for turning your DVDs into ipod/iTunes/Apple TV format

Download iSquint. Drag files in, hit convert -- they will be converted, and can auto-add to iTunes. The program is efficient, and free. Not some trial version of something that only lets you do up to 5 Mb or some shit.

If you have around $25 USD, you can purchase VisualHub (iSquint has a button to buy it) -- It is essentially the same program, but this one is like a "pro" version with lots more options.

I did that to clear desktop space. Why even have it there? It's right there in finder when you need it. The only thinks I have on desktop are:

-Dump (folder to dump mass-downloaded/copied content that would otherwise clutter the desktop
-INFO.txt (notes that I write from time to time)
-MS_Win2000.pvs (parallels virtual machine) I might get rid of that shortcut
-Maxtor OneTouch Manager. (External HDD program with drivers)

I download to desktop or dump folder, and sort files out later -- that way I keep organized.

cool3: of great desire or significance; pleasant. "this place is cool".

(I keep music on Internal)

Quit iTunes, Re-open it while holding "Option" This will prompt to use existing Library, or create new one. If you create a new one on the external, you'll be brought to that empty library to start adding movies.

.wmv
.avi
.flv

these are some that don't work in iTunes -- to make it work, Convert them using third party apps like iSquint.

If you wish to return to music library, quit iTunes, re-open (while holding "option" )

This time select an existing library file &gt;home folder&gt;music&gt;iTunes

I made alias's for my two libraries, and placed them in one folder for easy access.

<blockquote=silverblack;5653193>I am on the same boat, and just ordered a refurb mac mini with eyeTV 250+ yesterday. I'll be using them with a Viewsonic 27.5" monitor to form my media center. The mini is to replace my HP S3120 (Vista MCE). I am so fed up with this HP machine. It keeps waking up from standby in the middle of the night to download "something". Then half the time it won't wake up when I want it too. I HATE Vista!!!

I am so looking forward to the mini and eyeTV. Does anyone have any experience with this setup? any complaints, tricks that you want to share? I would really appreciate it.</blockquote>

eyeTV (atl east Elgato EyeTV Hybrid) gets very hot just after one hour. It shipts with only S-video/composite In (with left and right RCA audio)

When I record shows, they remain as large EyeTV files, and I have to hit export for ipod to get it into a movie file -- this could be a time consuming process. I had to delete a couple of shows because for some odd reason, it would not import.

All in all, I'm not happy with the eyeTV -- I'm sure it's built in tuner has uses, but I wanted a simple way to record things on my mac -- I also found that if I try to record a video game (say call of duty 4 for Ps3) The recording lags like crazy compared to the video feed -- no one can possibly play like that.

All I require is:
-Composite/S-Video in
-ability to record directly to movie file
-as little lag as possible
-something that doesn't get ridiculously hot

Quicktime is just inefficient at playing AVI's -- and it deffinitly cannot edit them.

Use VLC Media Player for AVI Playback

With Perian & WM Components installed, Front Row, and iDVD should be able to handle them (just to play or burn) but don't try to seek to different spots in the video (I found that's when Quicktime crashes)

If you have quicktime pro and would like to use it's easy trimming feature, Drag the file into iSquint (third party app) and convert it to ipod format -- quicktime will then be able to read, seek, and edit without problems.

if you can afford it, and already have a good TV (LCD) I'd say go for it

having a macintosh hooked to the TV, using all features, including Front Row on the TV would probably make it better than an Apple TV

No streaming from iTunes, you'll have iTunes, and all other programs right there. Internet, and for extra space, hook up an external HDD

if I had the money, I'd probably do it too haha. and to think, it's a mini -- just pick it up and go somewhere else, with the entire mac -- hook it to a friends TV and off you go.

apple EyeTV can record shows too, but it gets very very hot in the process.
It said it could record HD, but only came with composite & S-video.

If you try to record a video game off that thing, split the video feed, as the recording is lagging in comparison to real time broadcasts.

I was trying to justify getting an ipod Touch. The one thing missing on it is an iSight for pictures/video.
