<content>Yeah, I'm guilty. I bought the new iphone. Oh man, is it worth it! Back to coupons! Coupons are great. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards, and I've been following the coupon craze on savvywallet.com. One thing to consider are fraudulent coupons. <content>I'm getting an iphone tomorrow, and I've got about $200 bucks in gift cards. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards, and I've been following the iphone gift card debacle on savvywallet.com. I called the store today, and they said, they are accepting the cards, if you have a credit card to run as well. I believe you can use a portion and put the rest on the credit card. They need to verify, that the person buying it is legit. Strict, but at least they are accepting them. gift card with no credit card, no bueno.</content>

<content>@clever dude, you're right. Turning on and off is not as extreme as your example!! haha, do you actually do that? I guess the reason why it's extreme with me, is because my car sometimes has trouble starting if I turn it off and on too quick. My car freaks out. And it takes awhile for my engine to heat and pump the hot oil. You can check out my car on austinchu.wordpress.com.</content>

<content>wow, this blog is really taking off. I just recently discussed how I filter oil on http://austinchu.wordpress.com. The best places are italian and japanese places. Avoid places that fry animal based foods. Most of them have fats that you don't want. Also before you filter, you must let the oil settle for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours, pour a little bit of the oil, if the oil is opaque and cloudy, wait a few more days, if the oil is clean and clear, you may filter it and use it. The dirtier the oil, the quicker it clogs up your engine. I hope this helps.</content>

        <content>I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards, and I've blogged about how to file a claim for your sharper image gift card on savvywallet.com;

1. File a claim with the federal bankruptcy court. Follow these steps:
  A. Because The Sharper Image's bankruptcy was filed in Delaware, you have to visit the Delaware Bankruptcy Court Page. Scroll down to Sharper Image.
B. Fill out Form 10 from the Federal Bankruptcy Court.
C. Download, print and sign it, and mail it to:
       Kurtzman Carson Consultants, LLC
       Jonathan Carson
       2335 Alaska Avenue
       El Segundo, CA 90245
       310-823-9000
       310-823-9133
D. If you have trouble call the Bankruptcy Judges Division at 202.502.1900. Explain your situation, and they will walk you through the process. You will get a person on the phone as well.
E. Take these steps to file a claim with the Federal Bankruptcy Court

2. Take advantage of the offer from competitor The Sharper Image's competitor, Brookstone, to give a 25 percent discount to anyone who surrenders their Sharper Image gift card or certificate.

3. Try filing a claim with your credit card issuer, if you used a credit card to buy a Sharper Image gift card
A. Request a refund from the card issuer.
B. American Express is 'working on behalf' of it's card holders who submit such claims, even if the submission is beyond the 60 day statutory limit. This will be on a case by case basis.
C. Also, AMEX cardholders who opted for the Sharper Image gift card as membership rewards programs can return it and have their rewards points re-credited to your account. MUST DO IT WITHIN 60 DAYS

4. Also if a card that you gave or received was purchased from LeverageCard.com, Leverage has a bankruptcy policy that allows cards that are purchased via LeverageCard.com to be replaced with any retailer of choice.</content>

<content>I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards and I've been following the sharper image bk on savvywallet.com. Below are the ways to file a claim to get your gift card back. Bear with me, it's long:

1. File a claim with the federal bankruptcy court. Follow these steps:
  A. Because The Sharper Image's bankruptcy was filed in Delaware, you have to visit the Delaware Bankruptcy Court Page.(http://www.deb.uscourts.gov/claims/sort_names.htm) Scroll down to Sharper Image.
B. Fill out Form 10 from the Federal Bankruptcy Court. (http://www.uscourts.gov/bankruptcycourts.html)
C. Download, print and sign it, and mail it to:
       Kurtzman Carson Consultants, LLC (http://www.kccllc.com/)
       Jonathan Carson
       2335 Alaska Avenue
       El Segundo, CA 90245
       310-823-9000
       310-823-9133
D. If you have trouble call the Bankruptcy Judges Division at 202.502.1900. Explain your situation, and they will walk you through the process. You will get a person on the phone as well.
E. Take these steps to file a claim with the Federal Bankruptcy Court

2. Take advantage of the offer from competitor The Sharper Image's competitor, Brookstone, to give a 25 percent discount to anyone who surrenders their Sharper Image gift card or certificate. http://www.brookstone.com/info/content.asp?cust_serv_id=416

4. Also if a card that you gave or received was purchased from LeverageCard.com, Leverage has a bankruptcy policy that allows cards that are purchased via LeverageCard.com to be replaced with any retailer of choice. I was reading the LA times today and I blogged about a article on savvywallet.com about how women are furious because the iphone is not compatible with long finger nails. <content>Great post buddy. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards, and I blog about gift card related issues on savvywallet.com. I totally agree with you. Look at it this way. Consumers spent $100B on gift cards last year and around $8B was lost/unclaimed. The thing of it is, retailers want people to come back and spend more money. It's the name of the game, and it's how they make money, and it's why they LOVE gift cards. Rarely does it equal out to exactly the amount. What's worse is having .45 cents on a gift card, and not knowing what to do with it. It's money, but it's not money we can use. There needs to be a policy on every card that if the balance is less than 10 bucks, you're able to cash it out.</content>

<content>Good point. I'm just not comfortable having my money disappear like that. For example: A high end massive mall in Southern California is currently using AMEX has their gift card reseller. They are getting complaints about all the cards expiring. It's simply a legalized scam. Technically a gift card is a loan, to the retailer, not a loan to us. That is why when retailers file for bankruptcy they don't necessarily have to pay the gift card holders anything back. Another question is, there are states that have expiry laws, how come the credit card companies, don't have to follow the law? I think I might blog about this today. Thanks.</content>

<content>Thanks Sue. Saving it and putting it towards debt is the way to go. Also there are lot of people whose mortgages are adjusting too. $600 could totally help a family out. <content>I wouldn't. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards and we commented on this topic a few days ago on savvywallet.com. In my opinion, I believe only the retailers will benefit. Although it may seem like a good deal to get $630 for $600. However, take a look at this statistic: Last year $100B was spent on gift cards, and around $8B was lost or unredeemed. I'm almost certain that there will be cards that will be not be used, thus creating a deeper hole in our economy and our pocket. My advice? Save it, put it towards debt, heck put it towards that HDTV you've always wanted. Just don't put it towards gift cards. Gift cards won't help you pay down your debt or help you see the sweat rolling off Kobe Bryant's brow on that 50in plasma that Uncle Sam helped finance.</content>

<content>Great list by the way. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift card, and were looking for similar information about the most popular gift cards. My question to you is, Do the people who love the VISA gift card know that the card expires and charges fees? Or do they simply love it because they can spend it everywhere? I might as well load money directly into their checking account at least they receiver would get the money. Any thoughts?</content>
