God bless the people at Vibe Technologies! As a 63 year old male who has done physical labor all my working life and also suffered sports injuries in my youth, my body has been in pain for the last eight years. Yeah, meds helped but the side effects were almost as bad. After just one Vibe session i was able to get out of my chair without “making that old man grunt ( as my wife calls it)” As i continued sessions, mobility returned to my neck, hands knees and back. A few months later we moved to a part of the country where I could not find a Vibe center. I found the pain gradually returning to my joints and my doctor wanted to put me back on meds. I talked it over with my wife and decided to buy a Vibe machine and i’m glad i did. I’m feeling better than I have in years . My buddies laughed at me for spending so much money but now they come over for treatments. I should charge them but it’s just so nice to see them feel better. I guess what i’m trying to say is – don’t knock it if you have not yet tried it.reply

I work at an online firm and I’ll tell you that this is a very sneaky way to run up someones cc bill. The writer is right in that kids of unsuspecting parents will run up quite a tab in no time without the parents knowing. One click up-sells are dirty and make companies a lot of money. I really don’t think this is the way apple wants to treat it’s customers. I buy a lot of music, none digital mind you, but I’d never use this. I think if they really want to recommend music to their customers then they should offer streaming for free like myspace or any of the other networking sites out there that are trying to you turn people on to new music. Buying before hearing is really stupid these days when everything is at your finger tips when on the web. This I think shows that apple is falling behind and turning into a revenue generating business and forgetting that they are known mostly for making good user friendly products. I suspect this feature will be gone within a month or two. Visa and MC are not going to be fans of the amount of charge backs this service will generate. They will be well above the 1% threshold I would suspect. If that happens this will be a pretty huge and costly learning curve for Apple.reply

it’s clear that the article is not about the inconvenience of closing the sidebar. it’s about how a piece of software that was once a media player is now an ad platform. that’s the complaint. the fact that you don’t click the ads doesn’t change that the function of the software has been altered, become bloated, is a resource whore, etc. personally, i hate itunes, and i only use it to update my iphone (which i love). the fact that it sucks worse than before is no biggie to me, but i absolutely understand someone who has used it for its original purpose being frustrated by the fact that it’s slower and more resource intensive, regardless of whether or not they use the functionality that causes the new problems.reply

OK iM gonna help all you ppl that the stupid sprint ppl dinnt tell about the warranty from lg and that its FREE im 16 have this phone in white.. i thought it was great after 2 months till it decided not to want to charge i was omg seriously? Here are a few more players that weren’t mentioned in the post (didn’t read all the responses so maybe someone already mentioned some of them). Asus: they invented the netbook category and i suspect that category also inspired Arrington to think of the CrunchPad. Asus leaders have specifically mentioned they plan some touch-enabled devices. They have a history of thinking different and their industrial design, ergonomics and build quality keep improving. I’m betting they would produce a Win7 or maybe Android/ChromeOS device (or both) for around 300$ with good battery life and a decent resistive screen.Nokia- the Maemo platform was not mentioned here for some reason, but with the N900 coming soon, the possibility that it’s Linux based OS will gain popularity seems realistic enough. The phone could lead the way for the tablet. Once people get to know it and it’s apps they might want a bigger one.Palm- they did say that the WebOS will be the OS for a whole family of products. It seems logical for them to go this way. The WebOS seems like a perfect candidate (with some tweaks to the UI) to run in a productivity/amusement/communications tablet. They even tried something like it in the past, but with their old OS. Don’t remember the name.Gygabyte- They have made several interesting devices in the past and have proven they can get the ergonomics and design right. They also make some of the hardware so they could get everything to play nice together nicely.If you look at the abundance of operating systems that are emerging (Android, Chrome, Intel’s Mobline, Win7, Maemo) plus the abundance of hardware (new chips from Intel but also Nvidia, Via, ARM and others) you’d probably see that this is going to be an interesting market. It’s not necessarily going to be all Apple’s game again. I think the time for a tablet is about right for a lot of reasons. People have more needs today for computing on-the-go. A younger, more internet-hooked generation is becoming independent to buy stuff. Battery life improves. Internet (3G, WiFi) is everywhere… The fact that a concept (sort of) failed in the past does not mean it’s a bad concept. It could have been too early, or it could have been badly implemented.Personally, I’ve been waiting for such a device for so long and am excited the finally see one in the horizon. And personally, I’m cheering for Asus.reply
